Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take approx 30 min after the same meal each day. Swallow whole, do not chew/open.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to dutasteride, other 5α-reductase inhibitors, tamsulosin, soya or peanut. Low BP. Severe liver disease. Women, childn & adolescents <18 yr.
Special Precautions
Not approved for prevention of prostate cancer. May increase risk of high-grade prostate cancer. Risk of heart failure. May cause breast enlargement & tenderness. Additional check-up may be needed for patients w/ liver problems. Patients w/ severe kidney problems. Stop treatment before cataract surgery. Affects blood test for PSA. Regularly perform PSA blood test. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Reduced male fertility w/ dutasteride. Dutasteride is absorbed through the skin; may affect normal development of a male baby. Presence of dutasteride in semen; avoid exposing pregnant partner to the semen. Women, childn & adolescents must not handle leaking cap.
Adverse Reactions
Impotence, decreased libido, difficulty w/ ejaculation, gynecomastia, dizziness.
Drug Interactions
Do not take w/ other α-blockers. Not recommended w/ ketoconazole. Possible side effects w/ PDE5 inhibitors eg, vardenafil, sildenafil citrate & tadalafil; verapamil or diltiazem; ritonavir or indinavir; itraconazole or ketoconazole; nefazodone; cimetidine; warfarin; erythromycin; paroxetine; terbinafine; diclofenac.
