Aripiprazole
Indications/Uses
Schizophrenia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Initial & target dose: 10 mg daily or 15 mg daily. Adolescent 10 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Major depressive disorder. Patients w/ risk of bipolar disorders. NMS. DM. CV disease (a history of MI, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, conduction abnormality), cerebrovascular disease, predisposition of hypotension. Patients w/ a history of leucopenia/neutropenia, convulsion or lower seizure threshold. Patients w/ any risk of aspiration pneumonia. May impair the ability to drive vehicle or operate machinery. Elderly patients w/ psychosis-related dementia.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, headache, insomnia. Adult: Vomiting, constipation, dizziness, akathisia, anxiety, agitation. Adolescents & childn: Drowsiness, extrapyramidal disorders, fatigue, increased appetite, insomnia, nasopharyngitis, wt gain.
Drug Interactions
Carbamazepine, ketoconazole, quinidine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, itraconazole, erythromycin, grapefruit juice, quinidine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, alcohol.
